Fishing is still on at Hooked on Panama Lodge. This week we had John Hanks with Bill, Jason, Tobey and Brent. They were fishing with Captain Carlos and Captain Chaka. The Marlin bite continues. Released 5 and lost several more. 8 Sails total, but raised a ton more and lost a few. 5 Dorados and one of them was a beast.

Seasons Greeting from Hooked on Panama!
We had six groups with us from December 8th through December 18th. Joe Kornwasser from Los Angeles came down solo to check our place for future family trips and killed it on the Marlin. 2 Blacks, 2 Blues, a double hook up on Sailfish and Dorados in the mix.

The Season has started and we had Colleen Gallagher, Terry Moss, Austin and Jeff spear divers from Diving for a Cause who delivered 90 lbs of donations of sports equipment and school supplies for their future 2020 April trip. They shot some Dorado and saw some Yellow Fin Tuna that was moving too fast to shoot.

Our season is slowly coming to a close, but don’t let that fool anyone on the fishing 🙂 Last week we had Bob, Teri and Tommy Grossman from California. Bob had some bucket list items. One was a Rooster fish. On their first day, they released 10 by 10AM.

There was a smorgasbord of fish caught. They had too many yellow fin tunas to count no monsters but a good 70 to 80 lb. average with some mahi mahi, pargos, sailfish, mullet snappers and groupers mixed in We also had good action on the rooster fish around 20 with about 15 averaging 30lbs.

May 2nd – 5th we had John Hanks, Bill, Tobey and Brent fishing with us for three days. They killed it on the Yellow Fin Tuna landing around 20. Five of them were over 100lbs. with one weighing in at 150lbs.

The Marlin bite was a bit slow a good amount was raised but not many releases. The Dorado and Yellow Fin Tuna made up for it and on the inshore so did the Roosters. The Meyers knocked out their Rooster Bucket list with six releases.

We just had two CCA groups here with us Scott Shaheen and friends Murry, Herb and Robin from CCA San Antonio and Steve Bartholomew with Bruce, Chet and good oll Jim from CCA Austin. They weren’t slaying the fish but had good quality.

This report is covering several groups in the last 10 days all fishing 3 days. All had mixed bags of species. First groups John Vance and friends brought in a huge Mahi, releasing Sails and 1 Black Marlin while Ian Smith with his son and two other friends also releasing Sails, Black Marlin a huge Rooster fish, Mahi and many small Ahi.

I forgot something that was supposed to be in my last report. It was the Baxter group. They got off the boat one afternoon and asked if I knew what a Turducken was. I replied of course, but why? So the story was, they had a Mahi Mahi eat a bonito bait, then a big Black Marlin ate the Mahi Mahi. They called it a Marmahinito 🙂
