Hooked on Panama Christmas Report

Captain Dan here from Hooked on Panama Lodge with my first report for the season:) We have the Frocklage family from Smithers, B.C. David, Darcie, Keelan and Evan ( AKA The Monster ). Together with them are the Oestreich family from Whitehorse, Yukon. Bill, Devlin, Cayman, Isabelle and William. Bill and Devlin are the owners of Blue Stone Guiding and Adventures in the Yukon. We met these guys at the Safari Club shows. What a fun group they are and unfortunately they are leaving us today, Christmas Day:(

They fished with Captain Chaka and mate Carlos ( AKA Matagato ). Great photos below. Day one was a little slow, but things turned around quickly. Over all, raised 5 marlin. No hits on two of them, broke one off and got clean releases on two. Plenty of dorados and sails, with all of the kids getting a sail under their belt. Couple of roosters and a decent snapper. Also got a great shot of all the kids racked out on the boat after a long day on the water and a good one of Keelan, the terrorist fisherman:):)

Margot, the chef, out did herself as usual. Fantastic dinners had by all.

Have two new groups arriving tomorrow and begin fishing Saturday. The whole fleet will be out there, so I am sure I’ll have more great stuff to come.

We had Gene and Karen Myers, fishing with their friends, Jim and Elizabeth Benham. We originally met these guys at the SCI show last winter. They were out for 4 days fishing with Captain Victor and his mate, Jacinto. Fishing is still good:)

Ron Winter and his group of 7 anglers from California fished with us for 3 days. They fished on the Miss Baru with Captain Oliver and Mate Carlito and on La Chiricana with Captain Victor and Mate Jacinto. It was three days of dorado madness.

Valentines Week 2012

Here at Hooked on Panama, we had Rick and Rebecca Weisenburger from Murphy, North Carolina. Rebecca won the 2 day calcutta, with a 125lb. sail fish. Many more were released along with the winning fish.
