Fishing Report for April 8th

The late season bite continues. Had a group of guys here from Shimano. They were doing a little bit of testing with new equipment and such. Needless to say, their stuff got a work out.
We have Gary and Sheryl Meyer, and their close friend, Bad Betty Rawalt, here at the lodge right now. This is Gary and Sheryl’s 3rd trip here and Bad Betty’s 2nd. I don’t know what it is about these guys, but every time they come the fishing is hot.
We had Kelly and Nigel here with us from Canada. They fished with Captain Chaka and Mate Carlos for 3 days on the Miss Burica. Nigel was targeting sailfish. Captain Chaka got him in the right spots every day.
2 Black Marlin and they actually had a triple hook up Blacks but only managed to release one. I can only imagine the chinese fire drill that was. Probably why I don’t have any marlin photos from them. 4 nice size sails, 1 large rooster and several snappers.
There was a smorgasbord of fish caught. They had too many yellow fin tunas to count no monsters but a good 70 to 80 lb. average with some mahi mahi, pargos, sailfish, mullet snappers and groupers mixed in We also had good action on the rooster fish around 20 with about 15 averaging 30lbs.
2nd time visitors. Mark, Patty, Shawna and George. These guys were fishing with Captain Victor and his mate Jacinto. Mark, Patty and Shawna were with us during the holidays 3 years ago. Since then, Shawna got married. Lucky George:)
