What An Amazing Place

Here at Hooked on Panama, we had Rick and Rebecca Weisenburger from Murphy, North Carolina. Rebecca won the 2 day calcutta, with a 125lb. sail fish. Many more were released along with the winning fish.
We had one boat out on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. They were fishing near by the Island of Ladrones with no other boat in sight. There were lots of birds, dolphins and bait working the area which is always a spectacular sight.
Left SD with fishing friends Rene and Rick early on January 14th and drove to LAX for a nonstop flight on Copa Airlines (Panamanian national airline) to Panama City.
Got a group with us from Brazil. First day out was productive. 12 roosters released with twice that many lost. 3 sail fish in the spread managed to release 1. Many tuna in the 30lb. to 50lb. range with 1 weighing in at 131lbs. Hooked up and broke off many more.
Had a group of four guys fishing two boats. Jim Forzley and Bryan Enseleit, fishing with Captain Chaka and his mate Carlos. Plus, Randy Wood and Wilson Spencer, fishing with Captain Victor and his mate Jacinto. Three days fishing produced some great numbers.
We had the Johnson family from Florida with us this week here at Hooked on Panama Lodge. Ed, Sue, Brannen and Nathaniel. These guys didn’t get in on the Great Yellow Fin fishing tournament, because they wanted to focus on nearshore fishing. Man, did they kill it.
