Panama Fishing March 8, 2020

Sorry I have been so long getting a report out.  Been a real pain getting photos 🙂 🙂  This is going to be a a multi group report.

We had Greg and Dennis Pawlek back again with friends John and Tom. Fishing with Captain Carlos. These guys are our deep drop guys and bring us all kinds of critters we hardly ever see, but are so awesome on the dinner table.  Below is Greg’s day by day breakdown. Those cute little red things are unbelievable to eat.

I think this is their 10th time down here, they are like family now and a whole lot of fun to hang out with at the end of the day.

Day 1 – started with some Rooster and Cubera’s, with the 1 big Cubera. Then we chased the tuna that were everywhere but were shy.

Day 2 – few Cubera’s at the Point, then Ladrones for Groupers, Tilefish, Red Critters, Snappers, Amberjack, Rainbow Runners etc. deep jigging and chunking

Day 3 – straight for tuna, went 8-11 on poppers. Lost 2 tuna boatside well north of a 100lbs. Tuna and porpoise everywhere. Had 1 that busted a spinning reel.

Day 4 – some Cubera’s at the point to start. Then offshore. Raised a couple billfish, released a Blue Marlin. Got back on the tuna, went 1 for 2 on big tuna

Day 5 – slow as fish moved south. Raised a Sailfish and a Marlin that was it.

Great time as always! We will be back soon for sure!

Diane Hecht and husband Pancho was here at the same time.  They were here two years ago and just happened to be here at the same time as the group above, back then. Fishing with Captain Chaka. They didn’t do as well, but did get some good nearshore action for Roosters and Cuberas.

Pam Jensen was here the week after with husband Neil and friends Tom and Kathie.  They were fishing with Captain Victor. In three days they got 7 sails, released a Blue Marlin, 7 really nice Cuberas all released, 2 Roosters and a nice size Barracuda, which we had for dinner and it was amazing.  Haven’t eaten a Barracuda in years and forgot how good they are.

The week after. Suzanne Schuchart was here with family and friend Patrick, Lynn and Katherine.  Also fishing with Captain Victor. They also had some great inshore action, but a slow bite offshore. Roosters and Cuberas.

Waiting on some more photos for the next report and got two boats out fishing today.

Until next time, tight lines.
