My associate Connie Hudson and I went out yesterday fishing on the La Chiricana. Hour and half out we landed 11 dorado, lost two, one marlin checking out our spread.
Half day fishing out by Punta Burica on the 30th of Dec. Fun day for John and his daughter Mari. Two mahi’s and two yellow fin tuna.
Out on a trail run on La Chirichana just 1 1/2 hours out landed 1 sail – 1 dorado – 2 more dorados got away. 1 more sail and a few dordaro on the way in.
Got a group with us from Brazil. First day out was productive. 12 roosters released with twice that many lost. 3 sail fish in the spread managed to release 1. Many tuna in the 30lb. to 50lb. range with 1 weighing in at 131lbs. Hooked up and broke off many more.
We have Jon Buckner here with his wife Regan and two boys, Josh and Brady. The boys were helping each other out and they say these roosters are the biggest fish they have landed to date.
We have Jamie Browne and Frank Anderson here from Florida fishing with us. This is just day 1. 10 yellow fin tunas all between 40 and 60 lbs. All on poppers and live baits. Could have caught 50.
This week we had Capt Chris and Carrie Critz from North Carolina fishing for 2 days. The fishing action has been off the charts with catches of tuna,marlin, sailfish, rooster, wahoo, dorado and pargo.
We had one boat out on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. They were fishing near by the Island of Ladrones with no other boat in sight.There were lots of birds, dolphins and bait working the area which is always a spectacular sight.
Here at Hooked on Panama, we had Rick and Rebecca Weisenburger from Murphy, North Carolina. Rebecca won the 2 day calcutta, with a 125lb. sail fish. Many more were released along with the winning fish.
Left SD with fishing friends Rene and Rick early on January 14th and drove to LAX for a nonstop flight on Copa Airlines (Panamanian national airline) to Panama City.
