Hello Everyone,

Lastest fish report from Hooked on Panama Lodge.

We had Bill and Beate and friends from Texas with us this week. They got a total of 11 sail fish and raised a ton more, 7 dorados and lost a couple more at the boat, 6 nice snappers and lost 5 at the boat and 2 roosters. Our Captain Carlos is pretty funny. He says they didn’t loose any of those fish, they released them.

Carlos also took all the fresh ingredients for ceviche one day and they made fresh ceviche right on the boat. I guess thats about the freshest ceviche as you can get:) They also got a really big Rainbow Runner. Rainbow Runner makes excellent fish fingers, by the way.

We also had Jim and his son Bart for just a day charter. Jim lives in Puerto Armuelles and it was a birthday trip for Bart. They got 8 sails and 3 dorado on just a one day charter. Unfortunately, I didn’t get any of their photos. When they got in from fishing they hit the road to get back to town before dark.

Still no marlin this week, but the bite on everything else continues to be good.

We actually have a down week this week. Strange for January, but got the whole fleet fishing next week. So next report coming out soon.

I forgot something that was supposed to be in my last report. It was the Baxter group. They got off the boat one afternoon and asked if I knew what a Turducken was. I replied of course, but why? So the story was, they had a Mahi Mahi eat a bonito bait, then a big Black Marlin ate the Mahi Mahi. They called it a Marmahinito 🙂

Our last groups for the season were about two weeks ago before the hammer came down in Panama and everyone else had to cancel. Before this happened, fishing was good. Sails, Dorados, quite a few big Yellow Fin Tuna and great rooster fishing. Vanessa in one of the photos below got like a 90lb. rooster.

We had Coley Wood, Randy Greer, Randy Randolf and Joe Sitzman here for 4 days of fishing fun. The guys are planning to bring their friends for next year and have a 2 boat tournament.

Captain Dan here from Hooked on Panama Lodge with my first report for the season:) We have the Frocklage family from Smithers, B.C. David, Darcie, Keelan and Evan ( AKA The Monster ). Together with them are the Oestreich family from Whitehorse, Yukon. Bill, Devlin, Cayman, Isabelle and William.
