Fishing Report for January 7

Happy New Year from  Hooked on Panama Lodge!

We ended 2015 and started 2016 with Bill and Linda McCabe along with their friends Jeff and Linda Olcott from Wisconsin.  The group fished for three and a half days.  Flight delays in Minnesota set them back, so instead of 4 days they squeezed in a half day on their first day here.

Most of the action took place offshore when they came across a giant bait ball with everything in it.  Jeff said it was like watching the National Geographic channel or Planet Earth. Captain Victor said it was totally amazing! You could see all the predators feeding on the bait ball, and to see the red snappers and roosters out in really deep water feeding alongside sharks, dolphin, yellowfin tuna, sailfish and the sea birds really topped it off!

They released: 3 sailfish, 15 snappers, 1 roosterfish, 1 shark, 1 needlefish and 3 spanish mackerel.

They landed: 5 yellowfin tuna, 10 jack trevally and 2 rainbow runners.

They raised a total of: 2 marlin, 5 sailfish, 4 dorado, 6 yellowfin tuna, 4 sharks, 34 snapper and 3 roosterfish.

We just received a last minute cancellation for one boat the week of January 31st. to Feb. 6th.  and we still have a boat available the last 2 weeks of February. Give us a shout if you are interested in getting in on these prime season dates.
